Papillon (1973) Original Film Brochure

An original cinema brochure issued for the release of Papillon (1973), Franklin J. Schaffner's epic prison escape drama based on the autobiographical novel by Henri Charrière. Starring Steve McQueen as Henri 'Papillon' Charrière and Dustin Hoffman as Louis Dega, with a supporting cast including Victor Jory, Don Gordon, Anthony Zerbe, Robert Deman, Woodrow Parfrey, Bill Mumy, George Coulouris, and Ratna Assan. Screenplay by Dalton Trumbo and Lorenzo Semple Jr. Score by Jerry Goldsmith. A Corona/General Production Company production.

This superb brochure is a landmark piece of McQueen-era cinema ephemera. The striking cover features a full-colour photograph of McQueen as the battered, defiant Papillon emerging from the sea — one of the most iconic images in the film. The interior presents lavish production photography from the jungle escape sequences, Hoffman in full judge's robes for the hallucinatory trial scene, the harrowing solitary confinement stills, and a full cast and production credits page. Published by Sackville Publishing, Welbeck Way, London W1. Brochure designed by Al Rockall.
