Scrooge (1970) Original Film Brochure
An original cinema brochure issued for the release of Scrooge (1970), Ronald Neame's beloved British musical adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. Starring Albert Finney in a tour-de-force performance as Ebenezer Scrooge, with Alec Guinness as the Ghost of Christmas Present, Edith Evans as the Ghost of Christmas Past, Kenneth More as the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come, David Collings as Tiny Tim, Laurence Naismith as Fezziwig, Michael Medwin as Nephew Harry, and Anton Rodgers as Tom Jenkins. Screenplay and songs by Leslie Bricusse. A Cinema Center Films/Waterbury production.
This beautifully produced brochure is a wonderful piece of British Christmas cinema ephemera. The front cover features a magnificent commissioned illustration of Scrooge leaping joyfully through a snow-dusted Victorian street scene, arms outstretched, captured within an elegant circular composition teeming with Dickensian characters — a vivid evocation of the film's climactic redemption sequence. The back cover presents a striking full-colour photograph of Alec Guinness as the magnificent, otherworldly Ghost of Christmas Present, crowned with holly. The interior includes a full listing of the musical numbers by Leslie Bricusse, including "I Hate People", "Thank You Very Much", "I Like Life", "I'll Begin Again", and "The Beautiful Day", alongside lavish production photography from the Fezziwig ballroom sequence.
