The Alamo (1960) Original Film Brochure
An original cinema brochure issued for the roadshow release of The Alamo (1960), the epic Western produced and directed by John Wayne for his own Batjac Productions in association with United Artists. Wayne stars as Davy Crockett, alongside Richard Widmark as Jim Bowie and Richard Boone as General Sam Houston, with Laurence Harvey as Colonel William Travis and Frankie Avalon as Smitty. Score by Dimitri Tiomkin.
This superb roadshow brochure is one of the most striking of its era. The cover features an atmospheric full-colour photograph of the Alamo silhouetted against a blazing Texas sunset sky, beneath the tagline "The Mission that Became a Fortress... The Fortress that Became a Shrine." The interior presents magnificent full-colour battle photography from the siege sequences, individual cast portrait pages with biographical notes, and production background on Wayne's monumental personal project. A landmark piece of American cinema ephemera.
